interesting toronto

After brunch, Genevieve, yi ling and I checked out the bookstore for our textbooks. I found the psychology textbook for my introductory psychology module but was taken aback by the price - CAN$112.60! That works out to S$163.27. A second hand version costs CAN$92, which translates to S$133.40. That's daylight robbery. I shall make do with photocopies of my required readings from the Robarts Library.

We also collected our UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan) card and went for a short orientation for international students. Yi ling and I signed up for the weekend tours to Niagara falls and St Jocabs Village and Elora Gorge. Looking forward to this weekend!

U of T sells beautiful souvenirs like mugs, waterbottles, T-shirts, sweaters, stationery emblazoned with the U of T logo. The souvenirs sold at a certain university back home pale in comparision to the ones sold at U of T! I'm truly impressed.

Genevieve and I signed up for Fido, a student prepaid mobile phone plan. This is to enable us to make local calls. Both of us bought a CAN$20 prepaid card to last us for one month. Gosh I have been spending a lot... I need to manage my finances more prudently!

After lunch we went to Eaton Centre, a shopping mall which is a five minute walk away from my residence. The mall is HUGE! And I thought there weren't any malls nearby! There are stores like GAP, Banana Republic, H & M, Esprit, Zara, Coach, Mango... There's also a large bookstore and the three of us spent lots of time browsing through the books.

Toronto is an interesting place indeed!
