on canadian soil part 3: day 2

Monday 3 sept was labour day in canada and USA. Genevieve, yi ling and I went out for brunch and passed by a group of people wearing white t-shirts emblazoned with the words "Perserve Canadian Jobs!" You'll never see such things in Singapore, so it was an eye opener for me!

Three of us headed to Tim Houton's (a lovely coffee joint similar to Coffee Bean/Starbucks) not for coffee, but for soup! Genevieve and I shared a large cheesecake. It was so filling that we had no more room for lunch.

Yi ling was tired, so she took a nap. Genevieve and I trodded downstairs to get our modems and LAN cables. Alas, we had some trouble connecting the various wires and LAN cable. I finally got internet access at around 3pm canadian time (equivalent to 3am singapore time). By then my family and friends had gone to sleep, so I spent the next hour replying emails. My st nicks pri 3 girls sent me a flurry of emails! So sweet of them. I also registered myself with the S'pore embassy (those on exchange, please remember to do this!) and emailed MOE to inform them of my safe arrival.

At 5.30pm, genevieve, yi ling and I went for floor meeting. We met the other people on the same floor as us - 5th floor. Most of them are also exchange students. We were treated to pizza for dinner by our floor don. I prefer canadian pizza to the ones in Singapore. Singapore pizzas tend to be too cheesy and oily and I'm not a great fan of creamy, cheesy and oily food.

We were supposed to go for some orientation thing at 7pm but I was too tired, so I went back to my room to sleep!
